TRAVEL WITH THE GRAND MASTER ON HIS BLOG

In addition to his many traditional responsibilities, Grand Master Terry W. Posey has been keeping a blog of his activities as Grand Master. The blog’s web address is http://gmohio.blogspot.com. Wikipedia explains that “a blog (a contraction of the term "web log") is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.” “I wanted to give the Brethren a chance to see what their Grand Master was doing as the year progressed,” explained Grand Master Posey. “I spend a lot of time with meetings, phone calls, and emails in order to accomplish the work of Grand Lodge. Obviously, I don’t post the day-to-day activities, but I do try to keep the blog updated with my activities of a more general Masonic interest” A few other Grand Masters around the country are also blogging, but Grand Master Posey is the first Ohio Grand Master to do so. Grand Master Posey’s blog was started just after the Grand Lodge session in October of 2009. The Grand Master updated his blog 61 times in the remaining months of 2009, and the dedication of the new lodge hall of Morning Dawn Lodge No. 7 on Saturday, January 2, 2010 has given him a good start on blogging through the new year. You will be suprised at how much fun it is to travel with Most Worshipful Brother Posey by way of his Blog.Let us know how much you enjoy his blog with an email to the District Advisor at Mccecil@aol.com.

WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?

Freemasonry is the oldest, largest and most widely recognized fraternal organization in the World. Founded in London, England in 1717, its current worldwide membership totals 3.6 million members, 1.6 million of which are in North America. With 120,000 Masons and 530 local Lodges, Ohio has one of the largest Masonic memberships of any state in the country.

As a fraternal organization, Freemasonry unites men of good character who, though of different religious, ethnic, or social backgrounds, share a belief in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of mankind.

The traditions of Freemasonry are founded upon the building of King Solomon's Temple, and its fraternal ceremonies use the working tools of the stonemasons to symbolize moral lessons and truths. For example, Masons are reminded at Lodge to "meet upon the level of equality, act by the plumb of uprightness, and part upon the square of virtue."

Like most organizations, one will get out of Freemasonry what he is able to put into it. However, membership in Freemasonry is not meant in any way to interfere with an individual's commitment to his faith, family, or occupation. Freemasonry is not and never can be a replacement for these important institutions, but rather it is a positive environment that reminds every Mason of his duty to God, his community, his family and himself.

Freemasonry provides opportunities for sincere, honest, forthright men who believe in God and desire to contribute to the improvement of their communities and themselves. Through our Masonic Fraternalism, we reaffirm our dedication and unity to become involved citizens who have a strong desire to preserve the values that have made and continue to make America great.

The 20th Masonic District of Ohio is comprised of the Lodges of 5 counties: Ashland, Richland, Holmes, Medina, and Wayne. There are presently 18 Lodges represented in this district.

The Precepts of Freemasonry are the exercise of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. It is considered that by practicing these three attributes one may become a better person for themselves, their God, and their community.
